SAFE NEWSROOM
Safe Newsroom is an association that aims to launch an independent, safe and collaborative platform for journalists and media professionals. It will be called Reporters.
The objective is to make the work of journalists easier. The secure application allows journalists to connect with colleagues, fixers and media workers around the world. It is also a place of informative resources for journalists. It enables them to find important information on the security conditions and protection measures in conflict zones and difficult areas, as well as to find advice on how to cover certain situations or how to better approach premises when reporting abroad.
How it works?
Reporters is a mobile application. In these difficult times, we have to make journalism more efficient and less dangerous in conflict areas, protests and political situations.
It will contain four main sections:
- Connection room: journalists can connect and message with each other around the world.
- News: AFP news dispatches will allow journalists to find out about current events and receive INFO and SOS alerts.
- E-learning: information and advice videos from experienced journalists.
- Agenda: journalists can use their own calendar and add events (press conferences, demonstrations, etc.)
How is it secure?
Each member is verified before being allowed access to the application. Members have to upload their proof of profession or relevant education. Verification is done by the ambassadors, who are experienced journalists from around the world.
